GOD THE ROCK

Some things in God’s creation HE Really likes. One of these things is ROCKS. I stumbled upon this realization when doing prayer sets in the Santa Maria House of Prayer. When I would do a ROCK themed prayer set, the anointing would come very strong. I came to under stand that “ROCK” is one of GOD’S NAMES. With that in mind, the following is about our GOD, THE ROCK.

THE ROCK OF ISRAEL

In Genesis 49, Jacob is blessing his sons with their inheritances. While blessing Joseph, his father tells him the ROCK OF ISRAEL will keep him strong and bless him with blessings bigger than the mountains! This is the beginning of GOD’s identity as a ROCK. This name for GOD as a ROCK remains throughout the Bible.

HEAVEN’S ROCK

In Genesis 28, Jacob is traveling to Haran. In the evening, he laid down to sleep and put a ROCK from that place under his head. While sleeping, he saw a staircase leading into heaven, with angels going up into heaven and coming down to earth. At the top of this staircase, Jacob saw the Lord who told him, I am giving you this land you are on, as an inheritance. Jacob took the ROCK he had laid his head on and made a pillar of remembrance. He poured oil on the ROCK and named it the House of God. Beit El, Bethel, and said surely GOD is in this place.

THE ROCK THAT HEARS

Hannah was so grateful to the Lord for answering her prayers of anguish for a child. She boldly exclaimed in 1Samuel 2:2, “There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides You.” There is no ROCK like our God. Hannah knew her God. She knew the Rock of ISRAEL. The child Samuel’s name means “Heard of God” in Hebrew. The Rock listened to Hannah. The ROCK gave her, her hearts desire; a son. Which she gladly gave back to the Lord when he was 3 years old.

ROCKS THAT HAVE HONEY, WATER, AND OIL

Honey from the ROCK almost sounds like a Pooh-Bear story. In Deuteronomy 32:13, He nourished them with HONEY from the ROCK. And from the flinty ROCK, OIL came out. In Exodus 17:6, Moses was told by God to strike the ROCK with his rod (his authority). Upon striking the ROCK, WATER gushed out for the people and animals to drink. All of this was supernatural, because GOD is a ROCK. 1 Corthians 10:3-4, They all ate the same spiritual food. And drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the same spiritual ROCK that accompanied them, that ROCK was CHRIST. God was so good to His people in the wilderness. He gave them what they desired in food and drink, and HE used THE ROCKS.

DAVID CRIED TO THE ROCK

David cried out to God. In Psalm 18:2 “The LORD is my ROCK, my fortress, and my deliverer. My GOD is my ROCK, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, and my stronghold.”

Psalm 40:2 “He set my feet on a ROCK and gave me a firm place to stand.”

Psalm 61:2 “Lead me to the ROCK that is higher than I.”

Psalm 27:5 “He will hide me in the shelter of HIS tabernacle and set me high” upon a ROCK.

Psalm 92:15 “The Lord is upright; He is my ROCK and there is no wickedness in Him.”

David knew his God was like a mighty ROCK and would help him when he cried out.

JESUS THE CORNER STONE

Job is an amazing book to read. It is filled with nuggets of truth. Look at this one. Job 38:6 Earth has a CORNERSTONE laid out by GOD. Isaiah 28:16 “This is what the sovereign Lord says: See I lay in Zion a tested stone, A precious CORNERSTONE for a foundation, the one who trusts will never be dismayed.”

Zechariah 10:4 “From Judah will come the CORNERSTONE, from Him the tent peg, the battle bow and every ruler.”

Ephesians 2:20 “Jesus Christ himself as the chief CORNERSTONE.”

1Peter 2:6 “A chosen and PRECIOUS CORNERSTONE.”

1 Peter 2:7 Now to you who believe this STONE is precious. But to those who do not believe, The STONE the builders rejected, has become the CAPSTONE. A STONE that causes men to stumble and a ROCK that makes men fall. They stumble because they disobey the message, which they were destined for. Wisdom is to fall upon the ROCK and receive the gift of LIFE through JESUS CHRIST. Matthew 21:44 “He who falls on this STONE will be broken to pieces. But upon whom it falls will be crushed.”

I am so glad God is a mighty rock. He will come and help us when we cry out to HIM and be a rock of strength in our life. There is much more to be said about rocks and stones; it’s all in the Bible.

Roots

ROOTS are the main part of any plant. Roots are unseen, and usually not given a thought when we look at a beautiful tree or pretty flower. But without a healthy ROOT system in place the visual beauty of a plant or tree would not be.
