The Path of Life

The Path of Life

Every one is walking on a path that has a destination. The destination is realized at the end of our life.
WE can choose the path of LIFE and be received into eternal life with Jesus into heaven…OR We can go our own path and find our self in eternal darkness at life’s end. Our free will makes the choice. There is a Path made known in the Word of God that is life giving and very beneficial to those who find it. It is the PATH OF LIFE, the WAY to God. In John 14:6 Jesus says, “I am the WAY the TRUTH and THE LIFE. No one comes to the Father except through me”. The PATH OF LIFE is only found in Jesus Christ. Jesus took our place, dying a terrible death on the cross, that we might find this PATH. The word path in Hebrew is “orah,” which means road, path, the way, conduct or manner.

Abraham

The first time God’s WAY/PATH is mentioned in the Word of God is in Gen. 18:19. Speaking of Abraham, God said, “For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him and they will keep THE WAY OF THE LORD, to do acts of Loving kindness and judgments so that the Lord can give to Abraham the great blessings He spoke of to him.” Acts of Loving Kindness in Hebrew is the word “tsdakah,” which means to go beyond doing what is right and expected. Tsdakah is from the root word hesed, love. Abraham moved in loving kindness as he lived his life and followed the Lord.

Proverbs 10:5 The acts of loving kindness of the perfect will direct his Way.

Proverbs 10:6 The acts of loving kindness of the upright will deliver them.

Proverbs 10:17 The man of loving kindness does good to his own soul.

Abraham knew and believed God. He walked in loving kindness; tsdakah. The Lord honored Abraham and directed his WAY, delivered him, and his soul was full of the goodness of the Lord. Abraham is the FATHER of our FAITH because he walked in the Way chosen for him.

David

David was a man who walked on the PATH with an undivided heart. His Love and worship is forever memorialized in the Tabernacle of David. The 33 years of day and night worship that King David hosted is a representation of Jesus’s 33 years he was on the earth. David’s Path was not an easy one. The years he spent in the hill country watching his father’s sheep were formative years in getting to know the Spirit of God. The sweet communion he had with the Spirit of God as he worshipped by himself helped him to realize how to overcome great difficulties later in life; even to win great battles of war! David always inquired of the Lord asking what do I do? The heart of a Warrior was formed in him early. He knew his God could do anything. That is why when the biggest giant of the land came against the armies of Israel, it was No Problem. David had courage. Boldness and strength were imparted to him. This was the beginning of his destiny to be King.

In Psalm16:11 David says, “You have made known to me the PATH OF LIFE. You fill me with JOY in YOUR PRESENCE, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand.” Only walking on the Path God has for us can we speak these words as David did.

John The Immerser

JOHN was sent to prepare the WAY for JESUS. Zachariah, a Priest of God spoke over John, his son, “Your child will be called Prophet of the most High for You will go on before the Lord to prepare HIS WAYS.”

Luke 3:4 A voice of one calling out in the desert, Prepare the WAY OF THE LORD, make Straight PATHS for him.

Luke 3:5 Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become Straight, the rough ways smooth. And all mankind will see God’s salvation.

Isaiah also announced John’s destiny in Isaiah 40:3 A voice announces: In the desert, clear the PATH for the LORD! Make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God.

What did this PATH preparation look like? A Spirit of repentance fell upon the people. John lead them in repentance and water baptism. John preached a baptism of repentance and salvation. Repentance always comes to prepare for the WAY of the Lord. Get right with God. Wash in the water and in the Word. Where the WAY is prepared God will come. John knew this for he knew by revelation Jesus was coming to baptize the people with the Holy Spirit and with Fire.

Luke 3:16 I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of his sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the HOLY SPIRIT and with FIRE. John was a chosen vessel of the Lord, to prepare the WAY for the SON of GOD, TO fulfill his destiny with mankind.

Success on the Path

Abraham, David and John all had one thing in common. They were determined to walk in the WAY God had for them. They were humble and walked in the fear of the Lord. In Jeremiah 6:16 we are told to “stand at the crossroads and look, ask for the ANCIENT PATHS, ask where the GOOD WAY is, and walk in it, you will find rest for your souls.”

Isaiah 30:21, “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ear will HEAR a voice behind you saying, ‘This WAY walk in it.’”

When we walk in the Old Paths, it pleases God. Why would HE encourage us to ask for this WAY? So He can Bless us as we walk in a PATH that gives him delight. Blessings that are Encountered Walking on THE PATH.

Psalm 16:11, “You have made known to me the PATH OF LIFE; you will fill me with JOY in YOUR PRESENCE, with ETERNAL PLEASURES at your right hand.”

Proverbs 11:5, “The RIGHTEOUSNESS OF THE blameless makes a STRAIGHT WAY for them.”

Isaiah 26:7, “The PATH of the RIGHTEOUS is level. O upright One, you make the WAY of the RIGHTEOUS smooth.”

Proverbs 8:20, “I (Wisdom) walk in the WAY of righteousness along PATHS of JUSTICE.”

Proverbs 4:11, “I guide you in the WAY of WISDOM and lead you along STRAIGHT PATHS.”

Isaiah 35:8, “And a HIGHWAY will be there; it will be called the WAY OF HOLINESS.”

1 Corinthians 14:1, “Follow the Way of LOVE and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.”

Isaiah 2:3b, “He will TEACH us His WAYS that we might walk in his PATHS.”

Luke 1:79b, “To guide our feet into the PATH OF PEACE.”

To name a few BLESSINGS that will be ours WALKING ON GOD’S PATH ARE:

JOY, GOD’S PRESENCE, ETERNAL PLEASURES, HAVING A STRAIGHT, SMOOTH  PATH FOR OUR FOOTSTEPS, HOLINESS, WISDOM, JUSTICE LOVE AND PEACE.

This year, as we walk with God, I believe He is revealing more of Himself as we walk with Him in obedience on the PATH OF LIFE. More of our identity of who we are in Christ and the freedom to walk in it, will be ours. There will be more of a realization of who God is in us. A fresh Revelation of King Jesus imparted as He comes more and more. We will see ourselves more clearly in Him and see who He really is in us.

There really is a PATH OF LIFE!
God is real and He will keep us on His PATH.
We are preparing the WAY OF THE LORD!

ROOTS are the main part of any plant. Roots are unseen, and usually not given a thought when we look at a beautiful tree or pretty flower. But without a healthy ROOT system in place the visual beauty of a plant or tree would not be.
