Maurice-Sklar-150x150Violinist Maurice Sklar was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to a Russian-Jewish family with a rich musical heritage. At age four, he began playing the violin. He won numerous awards from the age of nine, and left home to study violin with Fredell Lack in Houston, Texas, when he was only thirteen. Accepted at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City at the age of fifteen, Maurice subsequently won a scholarship to attend the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music at the age of sixteen, where he studied with the great violin teacher, Ivan Galamian. For over 13 years, he was Artist in Residence and Professor of Violin at Oral Roberts University.  In 1997 he was awarded a Doctorate of Ministry.  Maurice currently lives in Santa Maria, CA with his wife, Devorah.

torsten-juul-borrePianist Torsten Juul-Borre was  born in Minnesota to Danish immigrants. His family moved to California in the early 1960’s where as a youngster he started his piano training.  He later attended the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara where he studied with Dr. Reginald Stewart. At the age of seventeen he was accepted at the Royal Danish Music Conservatory in Copenhagen, Denmark. An intense seven year course of study included all facets of music and piano performance with advanced studies in chamber music, accompaniment, vocal and instrumental coaching, and a minor degree as organist. Mr. Juul-Borre has appeared with the San Luis Obispo Symphony Orchestra, Cuesta College’s Portraits in Music, and has toured with the Community Concerts Association. He has performed with Conductor, Dr. Gregory Magie in Symphony of the Vines. Torsten Juul-Borre recently premiered Sonata for Piano in Three Movements, by  Composer and Conductor, Frederic Balazs.

Cellist Hilary Clark received Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Cello Performance, and completed coursework for her Doctorate of Musical Arts in June 2009 at the University of California at Santa Barbara. During this program she was the recipient of the Young Artist String Quartet Fellowship, and was a winner of the University Concerto Competition two times. Ms. Clark has been a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, South Bend Symphony, Illinois Philharmonic, and was Principal Cello of the Elmhurst Symphony. In 2014 Hilary performed the Cello Concerto in D major by Franz Joseph Haydn with the Bensenville Chamber Orchestra in the Chicago area. Currently she performs with Symphony of the Vines, Opera San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo Symphony, Santa Maria Philharmonic, Cuesta Master Chorale, and numerous local chamber music groups.
