Prepare a table; set watchmen in the tower. Eat and drink. Arise you Princes and anoint the Shield. – Isaiah 21:25
In God’s Kingdom, God is a great shield to those who love and serve Him. In Isaiah 21:5 we are commanded to arise and anoint our shields. How would we do this? Especially today.
We are in a season presently where the Spirit of God is speaking loudly to the Body of Christ to awaken and come to full attention. A person who is asleep doesn’t realize he is sleeping. Only upon awakening does he realize he was sleeping. So it is with many of us. God wants us to awaken to more of His Presence and reality of Him. Why?
Because He loves us so much. He is preparing His bride to be ready for His return. The bride will make herself ready and not have spots or blemishes of the world. The bride of Christ will be radiant in beauty and in her love for The Bridegroom.
The Lord’s desire is for us to be fully awake, hearing clearly what He is speaking in this hour. He is calling us to stand in the day of battle. He will be a great shield of Love covering us.
HOW TO ANOINT THE SHIELD
There are some things we can do that oil our shield and make it supple and effective.
WHEN WE TRUST GOD
Trusting the Lord pleases Him. Ps. 115:9 O Israel, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their Shield. Ps. 115:10 O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord. He is their help and their Shield. Ps. 115:11 You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord, He is their help and their Shield.
ALLOWING GOD TO BE OUR STRENGTH
Ps. 18:1 I love you, O Lord my strength. Ps. 18:2 The Lord is my Rock, my fortress and my deliver, My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. God wants to be our strength on a daily basis.
TAKE REFUGE IN HIM
I always think of a mother hen opening her wings and the baby chicks run under her wings and are hidden. Ps 5:11 But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love Your
name may rejoice. Ps. 91:2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, in whom I trust. Ps. 91:4 He will cover you with his feathers and under his wings you will find refuge. His faithfulness will be your Shield & rampart.
FAVOR WITH GOD
How does a person obtain favor with God? By doing what is right in Gods sight. Walking in righteousness and obedience to the Word of God. Obedience is rewarded and it is called Favor.
Ps. 84:11 For the Lord is a sun and a Shield. The Lord will give grace and glory. No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. Ps. 5:12 For surely O Lord, you will bless the righteous, you surround them with your Favor as with a Shield. What an amazing promise to have Gods Favor as a Shield around us.
FAITH BELIEVING GOD
When we choose to believe what God says is true we stand in truth. Truth is a shield. Believing God’s truth is a mighty Shield. Eph. 6:16 Take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Believing God greatly oils our Shields.
HUMILITY
God is humble and lowly of heart. The Holy Spirit is attracted to gentle humble hearts. If we don’t know how to humble ourselves, if we ask, Holy Spirit will teach us humility, with out embarassment.
Ps. 18:27 You save the humble.
Ps. 25:9 He guides the humble in what is right.
Ps. 149:4 He crowns the humble with salvation.
Pr. 3:34 But gives grace to the humble.
LOVING GOD
Ps. 91:14 Because he loves Me, says the Lord, I will rescue him. I will protect him for he acknowledges My name.
God’s Shield is a wonderful protection to have over our lives. It is comforting to know we can anoint our shield by simply following the guidelines in the Word of God. Trusting in our Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ. Letting God be our strength.Taking refuge in His faithfulness. Doing what is right and obtaining His favor. Simply believing the promises of God. Walking in humility for this pleases Him and gives the Glory to Jesus where it belongs.
Lastly when we align our hearts with His, His order comes to us. Our shields become His Shield of Love.
