Roots

ROOTS are the main part of any plant. Roots are unseen, and usually not given a thought when we look at a beautiful tree or pretty flower. But without a healthy ROOT system in place the visual beauty of a plant or tree would not be.

The life of a ROOT begins with a seed. A seed is planted, in time it will germinate and grow a ROOT. The life of a ROOT is to press down into the soil and find moisture and minerals hidden in the dirt. Once nourishment is found by the ROOT it sends the meal up within its self to help the plant grow.

The plant distributes the water and minerals to its cells above ground. With the help of sunlight and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Photosynthesis happens within the cells of the plant. Exchanges are made within the cells and glucose is produced for the plants energy need.
From the process of Photosynthesis the by product is oxygen. From the water and the rich mineral deposits found in the dirt by ROOTS of plants, life is given to them. Trees and plants are truly Life giving in supplying a food for animals and people and in releasing fresh oxygen into the atmosphere.

Another important function for a ROOT is it holds the plant or tree in place in the ground.
The larger the tree or plant the deeper the ROOT system has to go into the soil. And the ROOTS will will spread out to secure the tree in the ground. Roots are also territorial. They claim the rights to the water and richness in the ground they hold. To ensure their supply of food.

All plants have a Tap ROOT. This is the main ROOT that is the largest and GROWS THE FASTEST delivering the food to its top side. Next are the fibrous roots they are all the same size coming off the Tap ROOT. The last type of ROOT is the Adventitious ROOT. This ROOT can form on any plant part other than the ROOT system. This type of ROOT can help in the reproduction of some kinds of plants.

Why am I writing about ROOTS? Roots feed the life that is stored in a seed.

Seeds make sure the life of all vegetation can be reproduced. From the beginning of time seasons were given to the earth for the reproduction of plant life. Maintaining a continuous growing food supply is important for all living creatures. Anything alive has to take in nourishment. ROOTS are a supply line that maintains the life.

Is.55:10 As the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it flourish so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater.

Is. 55:11 So is My Word that goes out from my mouth; it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

GOD’S WORD is life to those to hear it and hide it in their hearts.

SEEDS SOWN FOR A HARVEST

Mark 4:26 Jesus said, “This is what the Kingdom of God looks like. A man scatters SEED on the ground.”
Mark 4:27 Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the SEED sprouts and grows, though the man does not know how.
Mark 4:28 All by itself the soil produces grain first the stalks, then the head, then the full kernel in the head.
Mark 4:29 Then as soon as the grain is ripe he puts a sickle to it, because the harvest has come.

Mark 4:30 Jesus said, “What shall we say the Kingdom of God is like, or what story shall we use to describe it?

Mark 4:31 It is like a mustard SEED, which is the smallest SEED you plant in the ground.
Mark 4:32 Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all the plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.”

Then in Matthew 17:20b I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard SEED, you can say to this mountain, move from here to there and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.

THE WORD OF GOD is a power packed seed. These seeds can be heard by folks and they are not aware that its living and active. The WORDS OF GOD are Truth. Sometimes seeds lay inactive until life is breathed upon them, water comes and germination begins to happen. ROOTS appear and search for food.

The best story about SEED Sowing is found in Luke 8:5-15.

A farmer went out to sow his SEED. He was scattering the SEED, some fell along the path; it was trampled on by the birds and they ate it up. Some of the SEED fell on rock, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture. Other SEED fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. Still other SEEDS fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop of a hundred times more than sown.

Jesus explained the meaning of this story:

The SEED is the Word of God. The ones on the path are the people who hear the Word of God preached and the devil comes and robs the Word out of their heart so they will not believe and be saved. Those on the rocky path are the people who receive the Word with joy when thy hear it, but have no ROOT. They believe for awhile but in time of testing they fall away.

The SEED that fell among the thorns are people who hear but as they go their way, the troubles of life, riches and pleasures over take them and they do not mature. The SEED on good soil is a heart that hears the good news of The Word of God and holds on to it believing and lets faith grow within them.

We want the Word of God to take ROOT in our heart. King David said, “Your Word have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you.”
Then in Matthew 6:24 it says, For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Job 22:22 Accept instruction from His mouth and lay up His Words in your heart.

God does compare His Word to Seed. In the earth there are seasons. A time to sow SEEDS for planting. A time to water the plants so they grow to maturity. Then there harvest time.

TREES

TREES are mentioned a lot in the Word of God. Starting in Genesis 2. Right after Man was formed out of the dirt God made TREES.

Gen.2:8 Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east of Eden; there he put the man he had formed. Gen.2:9 And the Lord God made all kinds of TREES grow out of the ground, TREES that were pleasing to the eye and good for food.

In Ps. 1:1-3 God gives us a description on how to be a healthy TREE. Basically by not having wicked friends or taking bad advice from them. Not mocking people. Taking joy and delight in God’s Word on how to live life and thinking about it day and night. This person will be like a TREE planted by streams of water and bear fruit in season and whatever he does will prosper!

God’s Word is Living Water for His Life within You. Time that is spent in reading the Word of God nourishes your soul. Stay hydrated in drinking life giving water.

Then in Jeremiah 17:7,8 We are told Blessed is the man that trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a TREE planted by the water, that sends out its ROOTS BY THE STREAM. It will not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. this TREE has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.

This is the person that has ROOTS. Drinking daily from fresh living water. The water of the Word of God. When we choose to walk closely with Jesus we can be like a TREE with deep ROOTS and have a constant supply of water not experience drought and bear fruit.

Job:14: 7-9 AT least there is hope for a TREE: If its ROOTS are cut down, it will not fail. Its ROOTS may grow old in the ground and its stump die in the soil, Yet at the
scent of water it will bud and put forth shoots like a plant.

A tree even if it is cut down still has a memory of water. At the smell of water a dead stump will create life. That is remarkable.

For a strong ROOT system WISDOM is a must. Prvbs. 3:18 Wisdom, is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be Blessed. Prvbs.11:30 The fruit of righteousness is a TREE of life, and he who wins souls is wise. Is.65:22b For as the days of a TREE, so will be the days of my people.

God knows how to grow His people and make them strong. Our part is to follow His directions. With Food, Water and Son Shine seeds will germinate, ROOTS will develop and we the planting of the Lord Jesus will grow.
