FOCUS

Entering a new time is exciting. Everything has promise. A fresh decade, Ten years, before us. Hopes and dreams we have, want to plant themselves in our lives.Life can be extremely busy and there are so many things that need our attention, and some things do cry louder at us. As we sort through daily what really is import inner lives, the need to focus is apparent. FOCUS is key. What we choose to put our full attention on becomes how we live our life and ultimately who we become. The battle is daily for what we decide to give our time and attention too. Success in FOCUSING is vital. Realizing this is helpful. But knowing how to choose the best things to spend our time and FOCUSING on is harder. When in doubt the best reference book I know is very old but very accurate. It is the WORD OF GOD. FOCUS on God’s Word in 2020. Chart your course for the next decade.

WORD OF GOD

GOD’S WORD was written thousands of years ago, by many different scribes. The true author is the Holy Spirit which revealed to the writers everything they were to write. According to Hebrews 4:12 The WORD OF GOD is living, active and alive. Sharper than any double edged sword, it penetrates even to the dividing of soul and spirit,joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.Just think WORDS spoken thousands of years ago by God himself are living substance and will perform whatever is stated within their text. This is our Bible. GOD’S WORDS carry power. Why? Because the author of life has spoken them. Everything about God is alive. His authority is at the top of all authority. Jesus has been given all authority.When we read the WORD OF GOD and take it as our own believing, it becomes our ours, and we inherit what is promised. God is a God of covenant promises in love towards us forever. God is good and his mercy endures forever.

LIGHT

The written WORD OF GOD is LIGHT. Illuminating the darkness. Hebrews 4:13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give an account. In the book of John, we are told John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. Heb.1:2 He was with God in the beginning. 1:3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.H eb1:4 In him was life, and that life was the LIGHT was the LIGHT of men. Heb.1:5 The LIGHT shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. John 8:12 I am the LIGHT of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.1 John 1:5 God is LIGHT; in him there is no darkness at all.

JESUS is the WORD, THE LIGHT and the LIFE.
Because Jesus is the LIGHT of the world and he is the WORD made flesh this is framed in
PS.119:130 The unfolding of your WORDS give LIGHT; it gives understanding to the simple.
Once we understand that the WORD OF GOD IS LIGHT we possess a tremendous truth. We can absorb his words which are LIFE and receive LIGHT.

Ps.119:105 Your WORD is a lamp to my feet and a LIGHT for my path.Ps.18:28 You, O Lord keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into LIGHT.

Jesus told a story in Matthew 25 about 10 young women waiting for their bridegroom. In the waiting for their beloved to come and get them for marriage a lot of time passed by.The woman grew weary from waiting and fell asleep. It became dark outside.Suddenly at midnight they heard the sound of the groom.The women knew their beloved had come and awoke. As they arose to go into the night it was dark. Lamps were of a necessity because of the midnight hour.Five of the young women had thought ahead and had taken the time and bought oil for their lamps to have LIGHT. The other five young women who had not made the preparations, asked to share the oil. The women who had lamps brightly shining said no go and buy your own oil. We do not have enough to share with you.The five unwise waiting women went to purchase oil for their lamps. The women with brightly lit lamps followed their beloved into the midnight hour. It was their time for love and the light in their lamps lit the pathway for them to follow.Sadly when the other women came back from buying oil they missed being taken away. The door was shut forever.

This story is an example of how we need to spend time reading the WORD OF GOD and buying oil for our lamps.God is faithful he will fill us with his oil if we take the time to seek him and read his word.God’s WORD is lamp to our feet. The light will shine and we can see how to walk.We are purchasing oil when we read the word and hide it in our hearts. Remember the WORD OF GOD is alive and powerful. It will illuminate. Darkness will flee.In Is.50:10 Let him who walks in the dark, who has no LIGHT, trust in the NAME OF THE LORD and RELY ON HIS GOD.

We are invited In Is.55:1 Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money,come, buy and eat. Come buy wine and milk without money and without cost.Is.55:2 Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me andeat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. A great table is set for us to have pleasant meals with God.

God is saying come to the table it is prepared for you to dine with me. This is how we obtain the oil to see in the darkness.This is how we obtain 20/20 vision and decide what to focus daily. Eyes will see and our hearts will know the best way to go in life.

In this year of 2020, it is possible to have 2020 eyesight. Read God’s Word. Believe it. Hide it in your heart. Your spirit, soul, and being will be full of the true LIGHT Jesus Christ.
