Reverence is not a word commonly used or practiced today.

Looking at reverence is like looking at something that has a depth within it that is hidden from view. Like looking at a mountain. Only when the mountain’s interior is exposed, is the gold brought to the light of day. So it is with the word reverence. Revering God is like discovering gold. The gold being of course God Himself!

What our reverence does.

Reverence proclaims who GOD is. When we with humility come and bow before the King we are saying, “You are Great.  I trust in You with all my heart and know You are all wise and will bring Your word to pass in my life. I place every area of my life under Your control and acknowledge that You are supreme.”

God’s response to our reverence.

Scriptures tell us that God releases His goodness in response to our revering Him. Psalm 37:9  If you belong to the Lord, reverence Him, for everyone who does has everything they need.  Psalm 37:7  The Angel of the Lord will go out and guard and rescue all who reverence Him.  Psalm 34:10  Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who reverence the Lord will never lack any good thing.  Proverbs 19:23  Reverence for God gives life, happiness and protection from harm.  So we see that making a decision to reverence God and doing it daily will give us life, happiness, provision, and great protection. Angels will be dispatched on our behalf to keep us from harm.

But it gets even better than that!

Psalm 25:14  Friendship with God is reserved for those who reverence Him.  In 2013 I am asking the Holy Spirit how to reverence Him.  As the day dawns brighter for Christ’s return let us be found in Him giving reverence to the King of Kings.

EFFECTIVE PRAYER

Entering His Gates For Effective Prayer: Enter God’s courts with thanksgiving and praise. Start by thanking Him for what you are grateful for. Don’t be in a hurry. He is listening to what you say.

Clean of Sin:  Ask Jesus to forgive you of any sin. Repent of any thing you’ve done wrong. If you can’t think of anything ask Holy Spirit to show you what He sees you need to repent of. Be still and wait. Ask for the Blood of Jesus to wash all your sins away. Don’t forget to include any guilt, shame, condemnation, fear and worry. All of this is removed by God’s forgiveness.

What God does with our sins when we ask for forgiveness:

  • Ps. 51:7, Isa. 1:8 He cleanses them white as snow.
  • Ps 103:3, Eph 7:1, 1 Jn 1:9 The Lord forgives them.
  • Ps 103:12 They are removed an immeasurable distance, as far as the East is from the West.
  • Isa 38:17 He casts them behind his back.
  • Isa 43:25 He blots them out.
  • Isa 44:22 He blots them out as a thick cloud.
  • Isa 53:6 He lays them on his son.
  • Jer 50:20 When sought for, they are not found.
  • Ezek 18:22, 33:16 Not mentioned again.
  • Heb 10:17 He remembers them no more.
  • Mic 7:19 He casts them into the depths of the sea.
  • Jn 1:29 Christ takes them away.
  • Rom 4:7 He covers them.
  • Rom 4:8 He will not impute sin to us.
  • Col 2:14 God blots out even the proof against us, nailing it to His Son’s cross.
  • Rev 1:5, Jn 1:7 He cleans them all away by the blood of His Son.

Waiting on the King: When coming before a Great King you dress for the occasion. You are already clean by God’s forgiveness and mercy having repented. So now you are ready to have a visit with the King. Worship and Praise attracts the presence of God. As you worship and praise and meditate on the word of God, His Spirit will come. Peace will be felt in the atmosphere. This is the time to be quiet and see what He will say to you.

How to hear God speak to you: Put your prayer list aside. The Spirit of God communicates in different ways. Have your Bible with you. He may speak to you through scriptures. Often the Holy Spirit will give you a mental picture or impression. Or He may speak to you quietly in your mind. God wants to share His heart. If we are too wrapped up in our own stuff, we will not hear him speak. After some time listening, go on to your prayer requests. Thank Him for answering them. Believe. The Bible says if we know he hears us, our requests are answered.

Where to pray: Find a place in your home where you will not be distracted. Praying in the same place each day is important. Angels will be released and will stay in the designated prayer place. Peace will be in your prayer place.

Importance of Faithfulness: Faithfulness is another key. Faithfulness equals power in prayer. Abraham’s faithfulness to God equated to righteousness and right standing with God.

The more you pray – God will come and you will see many prayers answered.
